At lunchtime today, I was calling out something to Matt as he was heading out the door. Then, Alison and I had a very funny conversation.
ME: Do you know who Matt is?
ALISON: No.
ME: Matt is Daddy's name.
ALISON: Daddy's name is Matt.
ME: That's right. Do you know what Mommy's name is?
ALISON: Natalie.
ME: Very good.
ALISON: What is Alison's name?
ME: Alison's name is Alison.
ALISON: (thinking about this) Alison's name is "Starshine."
ME: No, Daddy sometimes calls you "Starshine," but that is just your nickname. Your name is Alison.
ALISON: Daddy's name is Matt, Mommy's name is Natalie and Alison's name is Alison.
ME: Right.
ALISON: What is Granny's name?
ME: Virginia. :-)
(and then we named every member of the family: Mimi's name, Pops' name, Gran's name, etc.)

I love this age! I love the fact that Alison loves to learn new things and is so interested in how everything works. I also love the fact that she will finally eat spaghetti!! We pretend they're worms (gross, I know) and that we love to eat slimy worms. Whatever works - broccoli are trees and mashed potatoes are fluffy white clouds!
