The New Normal

Now that the Boening Family has become a family of five, we are all adjusting to the "New Normal." As a good friend told me right after Emily was born, "With three kids you have to switch from man-to-man to a zone defense." The good news is that Alison and Jacob love and adore their little sister. Jacob loves to brush her hair and anytime she cries he goes "Shh-Shh-Shh" to help soothe her. He has also become our top diaper disposal technician (via the Diaper Genie). Alison loves to talk, sing and read to Emily. She also helps pick out her clothes and gets her dressed.

In case you were not aware, Matt and I started new jobs and relocated from Allen to Schertz, TX (15 miles north of San Antonio) this summer. Matt is the head band director at Smithson Valley High School and Natalie teaches 5th and 6th grade band at Laura Ingalls Wilder Intermediate school.  Alison LOVES First Grade at Paschal Elementary and Jacob enjoys Pre-K at La Petite Academy.

Even though I am on Maternity Leave for 6 weeks, our mornings are a little hectic. But, as the title to the post states, we really are adjusting to the new normal. Matt gets the kids up and fed while I nurse Emily and gulp my first cup of coffee. Then, Matt is out the door and I get the two older kids to school. They have not been late, yet. ;) Of course when I return to work, we will adjust all over again.

Here are a few more pictures...

Big sister, Alison, takes a video on her LeapPad.

Big Brother, Jacob, helps Dad give Emily a bath.

 Sleeping Emily, rocking the headband.

And, now with eyes open!
