Milestones

What a great week! It has been so nice having Matt home every day during Fall Break. Baby Alison has reached two milestones this week and I'm glad that Matt has been home to be a part of it all.

First, she seems to understand what a bedtime routine is - even though she is only 10 weeks old! I feed her around 8 o'clock and then we give her a bath. After her bath,(which she LOVES) we give her a baby massage with Johnson's baby lotion, comb her hair, and swab her ears. Then, we swaddle her and put her in her crib - awake. This week, she hasn't cried for more than a minute after this routine. She finally gets it - I consider that a milestone!

The other milestone Alison reached this week was rolling over! She is already so strong as you can see in the picture below. It seems as though she was born with her strong neck muscles!

Tummy Time:

I have been putting Alison on her stomach, for what her pediatrician calls "tummy time," and she finally figured out how to roll over. She has to get her hands up underneath her, lean a certain way and push with her right hand. The first time she rolled over, it startled her and she looked like she was about to cry. I was so proud of her that I picked her up and danced around with her - I think she understood it was a good thing! Today, she rolled over three times!!

I found this really cool toy online called the "Sunshine Symphony." It is an award-winning, interactive toy that plays four different classical songs and becomes a twinkling light show when you touch its red "nose." Alison LOVES it! My personal favorite is Water Music by Handel, featuring the trumpet.

Here is Alison playing with her sunshine symphony....

...and eating her sunshine symphony! :)
