After coming home from the hospital and getting used to life outside of the womb, Baby Alison enjoyed many visitors. Mimi (Felice) stayed during her first week of life and helped out so much! The Allen Band Staff came over, followed by a quick trip by Pops, and then Uncle Steven. After a week off, we were glad to have Matt's mom, Shirley, come and give us a hand. Alison mostly slept through the visits, but we enjoyed seeing everybody. Here she is with her Uncle Steven, who came all the way from Austin just to see her. As you can see, she really made herself comfortable!
Her first birthday party was at Texas Roadhouse for her Uncle Nathan's 29th Birthday! Once again, she slept right through all of the excitement. We never thought that we would get to see her eyes, but she soon became more and more alert. Here she is celebrating with her Uncle Nathan!
I am so glad that I have the opportunity to stay home with Alison this year! It is a real change from my 58 trumpet lessons I used to teach every week last year. I have managed to keep 15 students this year, and Matt gets his own special time with Alison while I am teaching after-school. He is such a great Dad! It seems as though he has always been around babies - he is such a natural. I will finish this post with one of my favorite pictures of Matt and Alison:
