Birthday Time

It's July and that means Birthdays at the Boening house.  We celebrated Alison's 4th Birthday a little early, and had a Dr. Seuss Party!  She has become such a great reader, and she adores anything written by Dr. Seuss.  Her favorites are One Fish, Two Fish, Red Fish, Blue Fish and I Can Read With My Eyes Shut.

So, we had a great time making a "Cat in the Hat" Cake.  It was a Chocolate Devil's Food Cake (with some yummy additions like pudding mix and chocolate chips) layered and frosted with Buttercream frosting.  It was a lot of fun to make and tasted amazing.  It's still hard to believe that she is Four!!!  Seems like only yesterday she was born...

Alison had a great time opening presents and celebrating with family.  Maybe next year, Mom will be brave enough to invite over some of her friends. Maybe.

We also celebrated Jacob Karl Boening's 1st Birthday.  He was a pro at eating/smashing/inhaling his cupcakes. After eating a whole cupcake, he reached for another. And then another. Time really does fly, from the time they arrive.

He was a fan of his new set of wheels.  Such a boy... he got in, wiggled the steering wheel and honked the horn.  Nobody needed to show him what to do.  Now he is cruising around the house in his Coupe.
